Good conversation on ethanol. Count me among the skeptics of wide-scale
ethanol production to replace petroleum.
On the other hand, talking about ethanol IS a step forward for the
mainstream.
Speaking of which....
President Bush is predicted to talk about alternative energy in his State of
the Union speech tonight. The rumor is that he's been influenced by his
friend, investor Richard Rainwater. Rainwater, in turn, was influenced by
Peak OIl writer James Howard Kunstler, author of "The Long Emergency" and a
voice in the video "End of Suburbia."

Prediction:
A huge surge of interest in permaculture and sustainability in general
within the next three years.
