Aloha,

We have a huge "wall" to break down up here regarding the use of
grey/gray H2O. With all the folks that live on the lakes...the DNR
and county NR folks...levy heavy fines to folks who do not send all
used water to their septic systems.

They could perhaps use some education as to how ineffective and polluting "standard" septic systems can be.
Even half-decent graywater systems will probably protect those lakes far far better than septic leachfields.

I think you'll find some info on that in Art's graywater publications & web site, and elsewhere if you poke around.

Septic tank leachfields have been pretty well documented (not by mainstream folks mind you, they're still in denial) as a really really poor design.

They emit what they emit in the lifeless subsoil, so whatever comes out gets no biological treatment. It simply moves wherever it will in whatever the underground flow/aquifer situation is where it sits. By lakes and flowing water this can include into the lake or watercourse; above/near aquifers, into the aquifer; etc.
