Birds already illegally transport themselves from one continent to another.
It's called "flight". That's the way a strain of flu native to south China
and
Vietnam has suddenly turned up in Romania, Turkey and Russia. Unless we put
the country under a dome, in time wild birds will carry this strain to
domestic
flocks.
The practise of confining huge numbers of poultry into overcrowded factories
might actually retard the spread of avian flu, as no self-respecting wild
bird
would be caught dead associating with such flocks. But free range poultry
would be at some degree of risk.
