Having built a couple of ponds and created a couple of large holes without
building ponds, there are also other worthwhile questions.

Do you have control over multiple sites where you can have the pond?

(example answer: I have flat ground, anywhere but in the basement.)

Where is your water table on your property?

(example answer: level with the river and 200 feet down.)

Do you have any hard rock geology near to the surface?

(example answer: there is limestone about 250 feet down.)

Do you have any draws or ravines especially down to hard rock?

(example answer: nope -- it is flat.)

Where and what is your source of water.

(example answer: rain water from the roof and street gutters.)
