An Advanced Permaculture Teacher Training CourseJune 19- 25, 2002

Jude Hobbs and Tom Ward

At a glorious site on the Bonny Doon, near Santa Cruz

With this Summer course, on the central California coast, we are
continuing to prepare a new generation of permaculture instructors for
these new times. We will provide a forum to develop teaching skills,
discuss strategies and techniques, and review the rewards and challenges
of teaching a Permaculture Design Course. A whole systems approach will
be demonstrated throughout the course. Everyone will gain experience and
confidence through practice teaching and supportive critique.

Organizing Curriculum, Modules and Resources

Teaching Space Logistics

Team Teaching

Tricks of the Trade

Keeping Up The Spirit

Building confidence through practice

Prerequisite: A Permaculture Design Course Certificate
is required in order to receive a Permaculture Teacher Course
Certificate

Instructors:
Jude Hobbs is a horticulturist, permaculture designer, and instructor.
Since 1982, Jude's landscape design firm has provided environmental
design solutions for urban and rural settings. Jude has presented
permaculture workshops and courses throughout the West for 12 years. Her
teaching techniques are based on developing curricula that encompass
diverse learning styles. . She has written A Guide to Multi-Functional
Hedgerows, and tends a forest garden in Eugene, Oregon.

Tom Ward is an enthnobotanist, eco-forester and PC designer. He has
extensive multi-cultural experience in the USA and overseas. He is the
author of Greenward Ho: An ecological approach to Sustainable Health.
Tom has developed curricula for PC courses at Laney College and D-Q
University in California. He has taught PC Design Courses for 17 years
and is based in Ashland, Oregon, building ecotopian culture for 26
years.

Course Tuition:
Tuition for the course is $230 if you register before May 19 and will be
$305 thereafter. This includes instruction and course materials. An
additional fee for food and camping will be announced for
out-of-towners. This course is limited to 25 people. The price has been
kept very low to facilitate attendance and encourage community.
A $75 deposit is required to secure your space in the course. Deposits
can be refunded up until May 19.

Certification:
Course graduates that have a Permaculture Design Course Certificate will
receive a Teacher Training Certificate from the Cascadia Permaculture
Institute.

Course Schedule (Tentative):
Beginning Wednesday evening, June 19th, and ending Tuesday evening, June
25th. Class is held from 9:00 to 5:30. For more information or to
