Hi Toby,
I put up such a double fence around our garden, using a 30" distance between
the fences as suggested by a small booklet on how to cope with deer.
We see the whitetail deer so common to PA at least a few times a week in or
near our yard & farm & we have have had no problems in a year & a half.
However, the most important consideration might be that they are well fed &
not tempted to take any chances, for the booklet did not consider this a
foolproof design.
I put a recycled plastic 3-rail fence (for looks) on the outside & a metal
post &
2 x 4" mesh fencing on the inside. It works fine for us so far.
All the Best:
John
