Hi Jasmine: The best place to take a permaculture class is, of course, where
you live. My friend Doug Bullock, who teaches in Hawaii, says it's
remarkable how many students travel there for a nice, lush tropical course
and then want to know about appropriate methods for New England.
It would help if we knew more about where you might be planning to settle.
Opening up the question of courses to anywhere in the USA and Europe creates
an unmanageable range--there are dozens of courses, and many of them are
excellent. In the US you could take courses from very good instructors
anywhere from Washington's San Juan Islands to Baja to Santa Fe to
Massachusetts to Florida, and lots of places in between. Do you prefer
sub-tropics, temperate woodland, high desert, low desert, prairie, boreal
forest, or the heart of the city? I co-teach a course in Oregon (maritime
conifer forest/agricultural valley) Dec. 3-15; we've been doing that one
for 10 years, so I suppose we're doing something right. If that interests
you, contact me for details.
So if you could narrow the range a bit, we could be of more help.
Toby
