Hi,
Appreciate some of the comments on the vines.
Sounds like I might be better served trying to transplant some:)
If I cut 'em off at the ground will the root sprout or die off since the
leaves will not be able to supply food??
I'm at cross purposes too. The reason I'm cutting down vines is to improve
the Timber Stand under a forest management plan. Hard to balance a lot of
this stuff. Choices have to be made. I'm talking about deep woods so the
arbor ideas are not as practical. Would be nice in a garden area, or
pleasant saeting area.
I have lots of japanes honeysuckle too...so fragrant. I enjoy the aroma. same
problem they overrun the trees...seems they favor weak, short lived sumacs
and soon overwhelm them. I know honeysuckle can be invasive too. Yet I'd
liketo find ways to transplant them to areas where their fragrances would be
most welcome, and where it mght be easier to contain them.
Are they easy to transplant...can you just take root cuttings? will that be
faster, easier than trying to grow from seed? Thanks. Frank
