An Introduction to
Permaculture:
A DesignWorkshop for
Women on Self-Reliant Living

June 9-11,2000
Pragtri Farm Arlington, Washington
Permaculture is a method of design that offers guidelines for ways we can
create a more permanent culture by conserving resources in all aspects of
living. Productive self-reliant environments evolve through thoughtful
integration of land, water, plants, people, animals, shelter, technologies
and community.
The purpose of this workshop is to create a comfortable, supportive
environment for women to learn Permaculture philosophy, principles, and
strategies. Permaculture is a model applicable to farmers, gardeners,
educators, landscapers, architects, planners, foresters, community
organizers, and anyone interested in self-sustaining practices.

Permaculture is the conscious design of ‘cultivated’ ecosystems that have
the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems.' By
considering the ‘whole picture’ this workshop will concentrate on practical
examples of how to evolve one's surroundings to be efficient, productive
and beautiful.

Location: Pragtri Farm is a 20 acre land trust in the foot hills of the
North Cascades. There are woodlands, pastures, a pond, orchard and gardens
from which to learn.
