Aloha,
I recommend reading all of the 4+ rated comments. Lots of good stuff
and still a very controversial topic. IMO, I don't think that XML is
exclusive to object or relational databases, but rather a bridge
mechanism between the two.
Yep...
If you dig around some you'll probably find lots of heated arguments about XML as a DB...best stuff I've read points out that XML is *not* "a database"!! It's a markup language, which can be used in conjunction with various types of databases.
However apparently there have been lots of people who have used it as a (design?) basis for a DB structure. AFAIK that's definitely not what it was designed for, so it is sooner or later problematic when used that way.
