Just to clarify, what Rich did is really an XML example, not a DTD. A
DTD has horribly illegible stuff like <!ELEMENT link (#PCDATA)> that
can be used to validate that a doc is correct XML according to the
DTD. For example, <http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/sgml/dtd.html> is
the DTD for html 4.0. A DTD is the key to verifying that the client
and server elements are exchanging valid XML.
