Aloha,
A week or so back we discussed whether to include information about invasive plants. I got this email yesterday putting a strong case for including this info.
I do support comments, notes, etc. on potential or observed/documented "invasive" behavior of a plant, given in context.
I don't support an attribute "invasive" being in the DB for each plant as a boolean sort of value. PC folks if anyone ought to understand that nothing is that simple.
In other words, I don't support blindly jumping on the "alien invaders" bandwagon that is so politically correct (and un- and anti-permaculture and ignorant of the complexity of natural systems) these days.
Key book is "Invasion biology - Critique of a pseudoscience," DI Theodoropoulos, Avvar Books, 2003, ISBN: 0970850417,
Toby or Peter reviewed it recently in PC Activist.
Holmgren just had an article in the Activist on same general topic.
cheers,
John S.
