Jeff,
Pixwell handled full sun here in my hot zone 6 - but as the locals say, 'it
ain't much punkin' - still, it is a gooseberry that will take heat and
humidity.
Glenndale will also handle hot/humid, and is probably a better berry - I
think it was performing well for Richard Moyer in VA; hopefully Richard
will chime in on this discussion.
KY State Univ. at Frankfort, KY has recently branched out into doing some
trials with gooseberries & currants, in addition to their long-running work
with pawpaws. May give you some insight - they get hot & muggy over there,
too.

Hi folks,
I'm in Northern Virginia, in the nearabouts of Washington DC, zone 6b/7a.
Aside from this year, Summers are awfully hot and sticky. What do people
recommend as far as heat and humidity tolerant gooseberries and currants?
Afternoon shade, I'm sure, is a must, but what specific varieties/species
might do well?
