Named varieties are propagated by grafting. What you get from
seedlings is unpredictable, so they are mainly used as rootstock.
I tried making cuttings and couldn't get them to root. Maybe someone
else will have better luck.
No one has had better luck. There is a research program at Kentucky State University, and in one of their publications, they tried rooting seveal thousand cuttings. One made a single root, but it died. They have had luck rooting cuttings from first year seedlings, but that doesn't help much. Another page at their website from a few years ago said they were trying mound layering, but there was no follow up, so I assume it failed.
