I was tempted by their catalog too, until I checked their reputation on
Dave's Garden:

Have any of you had experience with Burgess seed and plant company?  Some of
the prices in their recent catalog seem too good to be true. (Buy a second of
the same item for a penny.)  I'm not talking about the "weird" items like
fruit trees with several varities grafted on which show a drawing  absolutely
loaded with different varieties of fruit, all ripe at the same time.  Not
those.  But I am interested in their specials like peonies, dward peach
trees, butterfly bushes and lillies of the valley.
Anybody have any experience with this outfit?  Jerry in southern Indiana

Mr. Hansen

Could you kindly write a small chapter on Mexican plum for Fruitipedia?

It just needs to be a small simple article introducing this fruit to people
like me living in other parts of the world.

Your contribution shall be duly acknowledged alongwith you address and
picture.

Please do write a few paragraphs, preferably in Fruitipedia format, and send
these to me.

Thanks,

Do any of you have any experience with Mexican Plum P. Mexicana? It is
supposed to make delicious jelly and can get quite large - up to 40 feet (I
am sure primarily in the southern states), although you have to wait for the
fruit to drop before it is fully ripe. It sounds like a really nice tree
that might be really good for wine or jelly? According to the plants
database, it can be found in South Eastern SD, Iowa and Eastern Nebraska, so
some strains may be quite hardy.

Thanks

Richard Hansen
