I had the same experience when growing them - at least I think. We had them
in partial shade and the flavor was good, but none in the sun for
comparison. I like hearing this, though.

I have Nankings growing in 4 locations / settings & I detect slight
differences of tart/sweet in ripe berries depending on location. The
trees I have growing completely under the shade of a huge Silver maple
seem to be the most flavor & the sweetest.
