Sorry about your trees Al. It looks like a root problem to me. The reason
why is the healthy trees look like they had already put on a lot more growth
this year and these sick trees never got going strongly. If it was herbicide
drift they would have had more growth on them before getting zapped. I had
several G16 trees that did something similar to that; I made the mistake of
putting some backup chip buds on them and that rootstock is very susceptible
to latent viruses. Some of them struggled on for several years. A few of
them lost all the leaves like that but then came back for a bit; all
eventually died. There may be a local soil problem around those trees given
how two in the same spot died.
