mIEKAL,Do you think that the Joels took that long to fruit because they are
just slow, or perhaps because of growing conditions that weren't just right?
I'm curious because I just ordered a few Joels for myself....Muffy Barrett
Southern Wisconsin, where the snow is disappearing rapidly (but it's not all
gone yet)

Thought I would help out here.

I've been growing a couple of Joel's for several years.  I bought them as
reduced, damaged rescue plants at local big box outlet.  They were about 1
foot.  They fruited the next season.   Each season since, they fruit.  My
plants set significantly more fruit than I feel comfortable in letting them
produce, so I thin a bit.

They are a bit slow to size up, but that is mainly because of erratic growth
that requires some trimming to shape the bush each year.  They are 18"-2'
now.    Worth growing- got a big bowl of cherries twice from two small
plants.  No problems seen in several years.

Jim,

Exactly what is a curcubit? Even the Dictionary of Science & Technology
doesn't have it.
