Thanks folks. I wish that I had more space to trial some varieties.  It sounds like jujubes need some exploring!

I grew Li, Lang and Sherwood also, zone 7, in south central VA, and got very few fruits as well.

I am in central Maryland which is in the same heat zone as much of NC and TN (heat zone 7 according to the AHS map - http://ahs.org/publications/heat_zone_map.htm).  Sugar Cane has done OK for me, it took awhile to fruit and does not produce a huge amount but it does give me a harvest of excellent-tasting fruits.  Honey Jar has been my tastiest and most precocious and productive variety; if it were larger it would be the one to beat.  Many kinds don't want to produce very well at all in my climate - Li, Lang and Sherwood all have produced little or nothing in five years, corroborating Richard's experiences.  I don't have Tigertooth.  Shanxi Li has been good but is a recent addition and has only started fruiting; Tsao is very reliable and productive but only OK in flavor.
