I had the same problem this spring Hector. My kiwi's lateral shoots
developed early, then were frost bitten and lost. Only a few
regenerated later in the spring and did not flower.

It took me 8 years to get fruit. I didn't realize that the new growth
in
spring is as tender as tomato. It contains the flower buds. If you
cover
them if they sprout before a last frost, they could make it though..
Well
worth the trouble. We pick them hard and let them ripen at room temp.
or
keep them for a week or two in the frig. to slow ripening, bring out
when
you want them to ripen. They're getting quite popular at the local
farmer's
