It is hyper sensitive to near all pests (esp. fireblight).  However it is extremely annual in production and super easy to prune.  It will never be in the super markets due to poor appearance (skin russet, dull color, etc.).

Mitch (Lynd Fruit Farms, Pataskala, Ohio) has the only commercial planting in Ohio that I'm aware of.  Sarah Brown of Apple Works, Trafalgar, IN and Dana Reed (Reed's Apple Valley Farm) of Paris, KY have commercial plantings, but only direct market on their farms.  Dave Doud of Denver, IN (who is on this list) may have Suncrisp.

It will be matuing around Oct. 1 at each place.

I love Suncrisp!

I don’t understand why it isn’t more popular.  Are there problems growing it?

I tasted it at Mitch Lynd’s orchards but I’ve never seen it in stores.  Is anyone growing it for retail in the Midwest?
