I have had the most efficient results by using a garbage disposal to grind apples w/o any liquid to aid grinding; but one needs a big motor. With a medium motor it has to be fed slowly so as not to overheat. But dispoal grinding produces more cider/bushell and with less pressure needed. I have used 2 classic hand grinders that produce chunkier pomace that gives less juice at much higher pressures than with the fliud pomace of the garbage grinder. On Apr 27, 2010, at 3:56 PM, R.
