Bill,
May I very respectfully respond. First, the topic, being one that SOME folks would consider off-topic, can be easily deleted, unread, by anyone who doesn't think the subject is worthy of their time. Second, any legislation that might adversely affect people from growing food needs to be known by people on this forum and elsewhere. Thirdly, you may term it "political" but it is non-partisan rather than political and can affect everyone who grows food on this forum--as well as people who buy food. I think that is very important. Anyone who doesn't can delete every post on this topic without reading any. The main purpose of this post was to inform rather than initiate a debate about anything.
Sure, views about it may vary from one person to another. But everyone on this forum needs to read what is in these bills--which can become laws, and then control our lives and our fruit growing as well---making it no longer a "political" debate but a reality.
    Very respectfully yours,
                               Richard

Heh, heh. OK, this is funny, but please, let's keep politics OFF this list!

I'm not sure how alcohol shipping policies are really on-topic here, but
that one post probably wouldn't be a problem if it didn't - inevitably -
expand to other members' favorite hobbyhorses. I'm sure there are plenty
of other lists for political debates, aren't there?

Since this NAFEX list is such a good one, I really think we need to
avoid obvious off-topic problem areas like politics. Let's face it, our
political thinking is liable to be all over the map. We're FRUIT
ENTHUSIASTS. That doesn't presuppose any particular political ideology.
