Everything has done pretty well despite extensive rains. I did spray a lot of Surround and sulfur this year. Conversations with a Cornell entomologist suggest that weather patterns in the spring have a big influence on curculio development, so I'm not necessarily attributing everything to Surround.

Lee,

It’s good to hear of any prunus that has at least some curculio resistance.  How did your other trees fare this year?

Beach plum seem somewhat resistant to curculio. Pollination needs are not clear. I could send you some scionwood if you like.

I would love to try Beach Plum. I'm sure I can graft it into my Stanley plum. However I have a big issue with PLum curculio and I don't spray. I'm sure it's not resistant to the PM.
Also is it self pollinating? will it need another beach plum or other plums are able to pollinate it?

Anyone know it's history/parentage?
Is "Jersey" a selection of pure prunus maritima.or is it a hybrid
with some other species?
Is it from the  New Jersey/ Rutgers breeding program?

I tasted my Jersey beach plums today, here in NY's Hudson Valley.
They were delicious. I got the plant from Raintree Nursery.
