A late reply, apparently I'm about 2 weeks behind on my NAFEX mail,
must be spring.

I thought that nothing would eat any ribes, but my current experience
is as follows: they'll eat the tenderest parts of gooseberries,
especially the native ones, not as much the cultivated ones, but
nothing has ever touched any of my red currants or european or
american black currants. But they really don't prefer them. Eat apples
and cherries and apricot first.
