- Subject: [NAFEX] extracting oil from rosehip seeds
- Date: Wed, 24 Sep 2008 08:11:55 -0500 (CDT)
I have a bucket of rosehips. Most of this volume is seed. There is a high quality edible oil inside the rock-like shell of this seed. Any idea on how to extract the oil? Also the Plants for a Future website says this about Rosa canina seed "The seed is a good source of vitamin E, it can be ground and mixed with flour or added to other foods as a supplement." It seems like if you grind the seed, you will end up with something like a pile of oily grit that will wear down your teeth.
