Black Velvet has AMAZING flavor, better than other gooseberries I've tried, but smaller berries and so far shy production in SE Michigan.
Deb, did you do any flavor comparisons amongst your black currants? I've only tasted Titania and Consort fresh, and found that Titania was yummy, Consort almost inedible, so I'm curious about other varieties fresh.

Gooseberries
Got a great gooseberry harvest (Poormans, Pixwell, Invicta, Hinnomaki Red) all produced a bumper crop this year. Plants are doing well, even with the summer heat now that harvest is over. Anyone ever try the Black Velvet variety of gooseberry? I might add that one next.
Currants
Got great black currant harvests this year Minaj Smyriou, Ben Sarek, Titania all grew very well and set lots of berries. Made GREAT jellies.
