I don't know about central New Jersey, but you might try Methley plum. Check for insects before marketing (look closely at the stem area for entry holes); but, in years with a good crop, most of them have been OK here.

I've also had some success with Red Haven peach and Harlayne apricot; though you do need to be prepared for a significant percentage of seconds fruit.
