Hi ; If you have access to some of the old historical publications eg. Downing"s Fruits and Fruit Trees of America or the Canadian Fruit, Flower and Kitchen Garden cross reference some of the names and you"ll find that a lot of varieties had different names. A lot of this had to do with different regions, countries or individual growers or nurseries. It makes it really interesting when you are trying to identify or name heritage cultivars. A lot of the old cultivars may exist but they could be named differently. It requires a lot of research and can be quite time consuming. That's the great thing about NAFEX.
