The one Asian pear I'm really familiar with is Twentieth Century. The branches grow straight up, really ugly looking. Then when full of fruit they bow outward, and given several years of cropping they change shape themselves. Still ugly trees, but the fruit are fantastic. I've seen other young Asian trees and they were doing the straight up thing too. Donna
