There is a very thorough monograph on the bewilderingly diverse black
nightshade section is at
http://www.ipgri.cgiar.org/publications/pdf/337.pdf.

Also see the entry at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solanum for species
and popular names.

Every once in a while we have a news article about some kids who find
out they can "get high" from eating nightshade blossoms, occasionally
one dies of it. I'm not sure what specific species they're ingesting,
it may be the ordinary black nightshade (S. nigrum) or one of the others
that are either native or naturalized here, but the blossoms at least
can be toxic.

IFAS-EDIS has a fact sheet on the garden hucklebrry for any who might be
interested.
