RE these Dolgo crosses, Kerr and Centennial crab:
I haven't seen or tasted them, but there were two Dolgo crabs at TTU till a few years ago. The campus had a lot of pink flowered crabs that dropped most of their leaves in summer and looked absolutely dreadful. But the Dolgos kept every leaf, never had any foliage disease that I could see, and made piles of fruit. The trees looked like plums with all that purplish fruit hanging in them. The apples were very sweet and very sour, one of my kids ate so many when I had him washing them that his teeth hurt for days afterward. They made fantastic apple butter. I'd like to try the crosses.
