The Parafilm grafting tape is nearly the same product as "M" but is just made in 1" and 1/2" widths. It is a very good product. You can see reasonable priced rolls at:
http://www.orchardvalleysupply.com/ovsstore/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=0&idproduct=278
Buds will grow right through it with no trouble.

Is parafilm like dipping it in melted wax or is it wax paper or plastic

Rondi,
Parafilm is a thermoplastic film, very easy to work with,
self-sealing to itself, photodegrading, and thin enough, when
stretched(3-4 times its original dimensions) that enlarging buds and
shoots push right out through it - even multiple layers.
The manufacturer has come out with a Parafilm Grafting Tape, but I've
never used it, as I'm quite comfortable with the good ol' Parafilm M
- and I have ready access to it. I think there may be some other
NAFEX folks who've used the Grafting Tape formulation - perhaps
they'll weigh in with their experiences.
Here's some detailed info on Parafilm:
