Jim,

I received a very similar apple from the late, gr8 Bear Creek Nursery as
Irish Peach. Mine fell of the tree several weeks ago and went into the
cider press so I can't say for sure. It is not Irish peach. But if I'm
remembering the characteristics accurately I'd say with near certainty we
have the same apple. I also have a 'Honeygold' from them that is red and
fruits in late August. It is crispy, tart and has the best growth habit of
any apple I grow. It's not a heavy bearer but it lies within the shadow of
a huge old rosybloom crab that predates my occupancy of this patch of Earth.

I suppose it says a lot about a company that sells you two mislabeled
trees...when you look back and think "how nice of them to send me a
mystery... what fun to solve the riddle!" rather than @#$%& I don't recall
ever hearing a bad word about BC. How sad that they are gone.
