The low crop makes me wonder if the Surround is affecting ovary development some way. Perhaps the young fruits are especially sensitive to lack of light and the surround blocks light from them. Do you have unusually heavy June drop with Surround?

The original formulation of Surround had a separate adjuvant to mix with the spray but the newer ones have the adjuvant (my guess is that it's linseed oil) mixed in with the clay. Do you think that the X-70 still improves performance?

I have used Surround on my apples for about five years now, using a Stihl backpack airblast sprayer. Results have been very poor. I do still get curculio damage and my crops are very, very low. I spray right after petal fall once a week or so then move up to 2 week intervals unless there's an inch of rain, in which case I reapply. I usually mix elemental sulfur in with the spray. I'm not sure exactly why my crop is so poor but when I used to used two sprays of Imidan followed by maggot traps I always got good yields.

Any suggestions/insights appreciated.
