I have been growing several trees of P americana for about 30 years and have not ever seen an idication of brown rot or black knot. By the way, the fruit is marvelous. Our favorite plum.

I'll second that I haven't seen black knot or borers on our Prunus americana, but we seem to have brown rot, some years worse than others. I think that it gets started where the (very abundant)curculios damage the skin.

To date, I have never observed brown rot, black knot or borers on
Minnesota's native Wild Plum, Prunus americana. Black knot is common on
Chokecherry (Padus nana aka Prunus nana) and rare on Wild Black Cherry
(Padus virginiana aka Prunus virginiana) and Pin Cherry (Prunus
penneylvanica). Thanks for you post Lucky, that your beach plums are brown
rot resistant. Anyone else seen that where you have brown rot pressure?
And what about black knot resistance?
Borer resistance?
Other wild plums anyone know of with resistance to all three of these?
Thanks,
Richard
