I agree w/ bluestem-Muffy that black knot isn't a problem on the common local
native
plum, and brown rot only occasional. And add to Jim's list the P.serotina
"wild
black cherry" is highly variable per black knot, but no brown rot. Borers I
don't
recall seeing any signs of.

BUT... we have 2 distinct native plums. One is common and one is less common
(at
least, in s.WI), and I once tried to key them out-- Gleason's Britton &
Brown. I'd
have to check my notes but I think the common one is canadensis and the less
common
is americana. Or did the latin names get changed when I wasn't looking?
