I am a member of "The Backyard Fruit Growers" in PA. Every year we have an
apple tasting in October, all members are asked to bring in samples of their
fruit and it is placed on paper plates with the name on it. There are some that
there is no known name and we try to identify those also.
There is a fair bit of difference in some cultivars grown by different
growers indicatinf that variety is not the only consideration. We are asked to
"rate" the top 5 samples and indicate why. This shows how really different
people taste fruit.
