I'll just add that they do very well here in the Central Valley, with hot
dry summers and foggy winters. We get about 17 inches of rain from November
through May. The trees are not commonly planted, but the ones I find are
heavily laden with sweet fruit.

Humidity has as much to do with different varieties of jujube bearing as
does cold hardiness zones. I am talking about humidity during the blooming
time. Each variety was developed in China to fit a particular area over many

100 years. We in this country are just now finding out where different
varieties will grow. One thing has been determined, that is that the dry
areas of this country are better suited for jujubes.
