Hello, Everyone!
How's it going? I have
been buying pecan trees from the Missouri Department of Conservation for 4 or 5
years now. They are Carya illinoensis
and that is all the information the usually give on the seedlings I order. They also had a bundle of "certified" seedlings once or twice, and have always had certified black walnuts as well [Juglans nigra], with a variety bundle of black walnuts with different names attached, such as Thomas [not this year], Sparrow, Emma Kay and Kwik Krop. The "certified" seedlings are from exceptionally strong and healthy trees, but there is no guarantee that they are necessarily better. The regular seedlings come in a bundle of 25 for $7 and the "certified" are $18 for a bundle of 25 seedlings. These may not be quite as hardy
as plants from Iowa, but should definitely be hardier than pecans grown in
Georgia. And they are available every year. They start selling them
about November 15 until January or so. Delivery can be chosen for March,
April or May.
Have a Good One! Love,
Peace and Perception
