Nafex's "parent" organization, the Northern Nut Growers Association has pecans from Iowa, and there are a few up into Minnesota. Carl Weschke, famous nut breeder, had a pecan on his farm that has withstood more than -40. Tom Plocher relocated it several years ago while exploring the Weschke farm and while the nuts are small, they are quite high in oil and very good.
