To make a comparison, the most beautiful sets of kitchen cabinets that I
have ever seen are overlaid with non-commercial woods. I know a fellow who
built his out of sumac wood, cutting the wood into 1/4" thick slabs on his
table saw, then glued it onto pinewood cabinets. Sumac retains an
alternating green grain; apple wood retains a pink-brown grain. Try a
similar thing with Pawpaw.
