Mesabi, a very
hardy cherry, is a duke and Kansas Sweet is one also
(although not all info sources agree on this). -- Sam Brungardt, St. Paul,

I have them. The Balaton and the Danube are hungarian sour cherries,
not dukes. Surefire is a sour, not a Duke. Raintree did carry one
for a while but nothing has been offered recently. I don't know that any
of my crosses are dukes, I think the sours cross with each other and the sweet
cross with each other. I don't know how to tell Dukes as
seedlings. You have to be really specific with the pollen and
shield the flowers from outside influence.

Raintree Nursery used to sell Dukes.
They do have a cherry that "may be a Duke by another name"
One is "Danube", which specifically states in their description is as
hybrid of Sweet and Tart cherry.
Also there are two other 'tart' cherries that have supposedly
high sugar contents for eating out of hand:
Balaton
Surefire
Raintree sells both Danube and Surefire
Cummins Nursery sells Danube, Surefire and Balaton
Couldn't find any nurseries selling Duke cherries.
