October is root-growth month. This is especially so with pecans. Get your
trees planted as early in October as you can get them planted. During
October the tree grows roots. Then it is ready for a burst of growth in
spring in its first leaf in its new location.
John Gordon of Tonowanda New York taught it that way and he is right.
