I am in zone 5 and have a Meader which ripens and has a lovely flavor. Where does one find an NC-10?

Sounds like you don't have enough heat to ripen it properly. You might want to try an earlier variety, like NC-10

Hello, 7-8 yrs ago I bought a Meader Persimmon from Millers Nursery. It has
fruited for the past 3-4 yrs, but instead of tasting sweet it has what I can
best describe as a "numbing" sensation (not sour) even after multiple
freezes in Oct/Nov. I have had California Persimmons and they are sweet and
good. There are no pollinators in the area.

The climate is zone 4a, near Lake Champlain in Vermont.

Is this due to lack of heating days? Am I growing the rootstock?

Thanks, Eric White
