An unheated, detached building on slab has thermal
mass, and won't change temperatures as fast as
outside; it won't get as cold as the lows (and may
get higher than the highs, depending on solar gain
and insulation). For us here, that means it doesn't
freeze at all in the detached unheated shop,and we
store food there; lows have been 18 degrees or so,
but those days had highs around 30 and it doesn't
last more than a few days. However, "not as cold as
outdoors" in your case, doesn't mean "warm enough to
make a difference", although maybe the difference
between 20 below and 5 below does matter...
