Well, I would hardly use the term "wringing". It simply costs a few dollars.
Do you really want it or is this just a rap? If you want it order it and
then since you are computer savvy put it on a data base, create a map and be
happy. At NAFEX we sell the thing. At NAFEX we are all volunteers. There is
no paid staff to do things that are thought important by 20 or so list-serv
folk.

Regarding the POMONA, have you written an article? It is one of the
responsibilities of members. Perhaps you may wish to write on using
computers.

This mailing list seems to be more useful than Pomona itself, which no
offence intended, has NOT impressed me in the two issues I have read.

Moreover the mailing list seems to be freely available to anyone to
subscribe.
*And* the archives are available freely on the web.

I don't have a problem with paying membership dues, but I would have
expected the roster to be available to all paying members, and in my
view, the only reason to charge a fee for a roster would be if it were
printed on paper and sent through the mail. Now that it's not the 1980s
anymore, we have other options, as all of us computer users have found
to our relief and pleasure.

If one of the NAFEX members were so dead set on misusing names and
addresses, they could order the paper roster and scan the names in using
an application like Ofoto, no need even to type them up. I don't see
that we save anything by throwing up roadblocks at every turn to
information sharing which does not cost the organization anything in
paper or postage. If NAFEX needs additional funds, why not simply raise
the membership fee? I feel that it's unbecoming to try to wring $ out of
people who have already gladly paid to join up.
