I planted Actinidia kolomitka and A. arguta at the same time and A. kolomitka bloomed and bore fruit in its third year whereas A. arguta took another four years before it got around to blooming.  My A. kolomitka and half of my A. arguta were planted to receive sun from 9:00 A.M. to about 2:00 P.M.  The A. arguta responded identically to whatever A. arguta that were planted in full sun did.  A. arguta makes twenty foot vines whereas A. kolomitka is more subdued...............until..........after it gets six to seven years old.  It will make twenty foot vines but won't grow them as fast as A. arguta does.  A. kolomitka will act like an unruly bush unless it is provided with horizontal wires for it to climb on - my wires are 5½' above ground.  A. arguta fruit is about 50% larger than that of A kolomitka.  Here in Northern Minnesota, A. arguta bears in September whereas A. kolomitka bears in August.  pH in a range between 6 and 7.5 seems ideal for both.  A  One male Two male plants to three females produce more fruit fewer males per females.  Apis mellifera and A. bombus are the primary pollenating vectors (Osmia spp. seem to ignore it).
