The trees are genetic dwarfs and have ancient pedigrees. I got the scions
from the National Germplasm Depository in Corvallis. They are grafted on to
OH-F97 rootstock, thanks to Ed Fackler. I cannot graft without drawing
copious quantities of blood. OH-F97 is standard rootstock for European and
Asian pears. Neither pear has yet to bloom or set fruit. So I can't answer
your question about flavor. Hopefully, next spring there will be fruit.
I'll be putting the trees in the ground in late August, as we are moving to
a new house with acreage, and I finally have space for an orchard.
