hello all,

I am putting up a trellis for some blackberries and was wondering what kind of wire folks would suggest?

Thanks,

Keith

Keith:

I use No.9 steel wire for the trailing blackberries. It's heavy, and consequently a little hard to work with, but once it's up it's permanent. I drill holes in the support posts, pull it tight, and wrap it around. It stays. Of course, to put any tension on it you have to have a 2x4 across the top too. I actually use two 2x4's screwed together with deck screws into a "T" shape. The alternative is to set the posts in concrete, which I don't like to do because you can never get it out.
